Tibetan Buddhist Monks

 To Visit Woodbury

WOODBURY — The Woodbury Yoga Center will be hosting ten Tibetan Buddhist monks from the Drepung Gomang Monastery on Friday, September 15, and Saturday, September 16.

The monks are on tour to raise awareness regarding the potential extinction of the Tibetan Buddhist culture at the hands of the Communist Chinese, to share the joy and compassion of Tibetan Buddhism, and to raise funds for the monasteries so they can maintain their cultural and religious identity while living in exile in India.

They will be giving different teachings and prayers each day. Friday night’s prayers are to bring about peace, healing, and weather conditions supportive for local farming and harvest. Saturday’s prayers will be for healing family members, friends, and oneself along with prayers for the welfare of loved ones who have passed on.

The monks also will be available for private prayers in homes for healing, purification of one’s home, and also for the souls of loved ones that have passed on. For more information on private programs call 203/263-0180.

Friday night’s program is from 8:15 to 10:15 pm and Saturday’s from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. There is a suggested donation of $21 for the programs, although no one will be turned away.

The Woodbury Yoga Center is located at 122 West Side Road.

Call 203/263-2254 for more information or directions or visit the Web site at www.woodburyyogacenter.com.
