Boy Injured In Bicycle Incident

On Elm Drive

Police are investigating an incident in which a 13-year-old boy, who was riding a bicycle on Elm Drive on the afternoon of August 28, was nearly struck by an automobile, causing the boy to fall off the bicycle and be injured.

Police said the unidentified boy was riding a bicycle southward on Elm Drive, near the Liberty Field baseball diamonds at about 3:30 pm, when a southbound vehicle believed to be a white Honda Accord nearly struck the boy.

The startled boy then drove into a curb and fell to the ground, receiving a sprained elbow in the fall, police said. A passerby reported the incident to police.

It is unclear if the Honda driver realized that the boy had fallen off the bicycle, police said.

Ambulance volunteers transported the boy to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, after which he was released, police said.

Police ask anyone who witnessed the incident to contact investigating Officer Todd Dingee at the police station at 3 Main Street, 426-5841.
