Chipping Away At Our Culture

To the Editor:

What is with the “F” word (and worse) being splattered throughout today’s movies?

It adds nothing to the quality of the movie, but this gratuitous use of profanity and sex does harm our children and our culture.  It influences impressionable young people to believe it is OK to behave this way.

Some Hollywood people say it reflects life and reality. A talented, well paid screenwriter should have the ability to reflect life and reality with real vocabulary rather than ‘gutter’ language. This is another step in Hollywood’s campaign to chip away at the quality of our culture and mores. Hollywood consistently loosens its own self-rating guidelines in an attempt to increase profits.

If you would like to reduce the bad language in movies and TV, write your Congressperson.
