The first meeting-program of the 2014-14 season for The Genealogy Club of Newtown will be on Wednesday, September 10, at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

The program will begin at 7, but the library’s Genealogy Help Desk will be open at 6:45 for those needing help with a genealogical problem or question.

This month’s program will be a presentation by club chairperson Toni McKeen, who will speak on “The All-important Military Records.”

Most people find they have a variety of Citizen Soldiers in their ancestral lines. Ms McKeen will discuss how to research those in one’s family tree.

Light refreshments will be served, and all are invited for a friendly, informative meeting.

For those interested in joining the club, dues are $20 for a single membership and $30 for a family membership. The club meetings on the second Wednesday of each month, September through June.

A dedicated computer in the Genealogy Room of the Library is free to use, and on Monday afternoons between 2 and 4, Harlan Jessup, the club’s professional Genealogist, is available anyone on their journey of discovery.

For more information about the program or the club, call Bea Morgan at 203-304-1861 or Mr Jessup at 203-270-7887.
