Frances L. Drapcak

Frances L. Drapcak, 89, died at Lockwood Lodge in Newtown, on September 3. Mrs Drapcak was a resident of Sandy Hook since the 1950s. She was born in Oregon City, Ore., on July 7, 1927.semperfifund.org, or Guiding Eyes for the Blind in Yorktown Heights, N.Y., guidingeyes.org.

Her daughter Alice Bogues and her husband, Peter, of Smithfield, N.C.; and sister Sharon Brooks of Milwaukie, Ore., survive her. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph B. Drapcak, in 1976, and  brother Verne O'Connor, in 2007.

Mrs Drapcak is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Joseph Tomchik and his wife, Sheri, of Bristol; Jeffrey Tomchik and his wife, Heather, of Danbury; and Jessica Quell of Clayton, N.C.; as well as her great-grandchildren Nicholas Tomchik, Jason Quell, and Angela Quell.

After school she worked in a soda shop where she met her husband Joe, a Navy sailor. They were married and moved to Connecticut when he was transferred to the Groton Navy Base.

Mrs Drapcak was an employee of Avco/Lycoming of Stratford, where she worked on airplane instrumentation for military contracts, and was a longtime employee of Dual Lite of Newtown, where she worked assembling PC boards for emergency lighting. She also taught night school classes at Henry Abbott Technical High School in Danbury. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling and took pride in maintaining her beloved house and property.

The family will receive friends at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, on Wednesday, September 7, from 5 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church on Thursday, September 8, at 10:30 am, with interment to follow at St Rose Cemetery, Sandy Hook.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff of Lockwood Lodge in Newtown and the Danbury Nurses Registry.
