George V. Szabo

George V. Szabo, 85, of Trumbull died September 1 at St Vincent's Hospital. He was born in Hungary and was a longtime Trumbull resident.Daily News, his crosswords, and his scotch. He also loved working with his hands; he designed and built cabinets, tables, and other creations for family and friends. He played soccer at various levels in Hungary, Germany, and the United States. He was a huge fan of all sports and will be sorely missed at family Sunday gatherings to watch football.mullinsfh.com.

His four children, George and his wife, Katy, Szabo, of Newtown, Jackiee Szabo, Laura Szabo, and Mickie Szabo of Trumbull; his grandson Joseph Szabo of Trumbull; and two sisters, Alice Devenyi and Margit Markos, both of Pittsburgh, survive him. His beloved wife Marilyn Fichera Szabo predeceased him.

After immigrating to the United States in 1952, Mr Szabo moved to Bridgeport to work at Trio Industries, an architectural metalwork company. He worked his way up to supervising the design, manufacture, and installation of metalwork, window, and door projects large and small, such as at Madison Square Garden, the World Trade Center, St Vincent's Hospital, and countless other local and nationwide projects. After working for Trio for more than 20 years, he moved to a similar position at Leed-Himmel Industries, where he worked and then consulted until 2013.

Friends and family are invited to attend his funeral services on Wednesday, September 7, at 11 am, at St Theresa Church, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull. Interment will be private at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
