Frank Michael Nosal, Sr, 95, of Fairfield, died September 2, just two days shy of losing his wife, Vera, two years ago. Mr Nosal (aka “Pop, the Energizer bunny”) was born December 12, 1919, and was the son of the late Veronica and Michael Nosal.

His six children and spouses, Robert and Amy Nosal of Newtown, Frank Nosal, Jr, and Diane of Wake Forest, N.C., James and Janet Nosal of Fairfield, Penn., Mary Graham-Gracewski and Tom of Broad Brook, Patricia and Robert Birmingham of Monroe, and Nancy and Erik Olofson of Bridgeport; his sister, Theresa Slatcher, and her husband George; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren survive Mr Nosal. In addition to his wife, an infant son and four siblings predeceased him.

Mr Nosal grew up in Fairfield and played football at Roger Ludlowe High School, graduating in 1939. From 1942 to 1946 he served his country in the US Navy, where he met Vera. Following the war, Frank and Vera settled in Fairfield and raised their family.

He was employed by the Bullard Company for 43 years, before retiring in 1982.

Mr Nosal could be found working on cars, mowing people’s lawns, or enjoying his favorite pastime, junk collecting.

He was a member of First Church Congregational in Fairfield, a life member and past commander of American Legion Post 74, and a member of the Greenfield Hill Grange.

The Nosal family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and especially the CNAs at the Jewish Home for the Elderly for taking such good care of “Pop.”

A funeral service took place September 9. Interment with military honors was in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
