To The Editor,

I would like to express my gratitude, and would like to publicly recognize and recommend to the Newtown Labor Day Committee and the Chamber of Commerce that Rob Emmerthal be nominated as the 2022 Labor Day Parade grand marshal.

It has been through his efforts that the Newtown Labor Day Parade has continued these last two years through COVID, so the town can successfully say the parade has continued for 61 years. Though today’s parade had been reduced in scope, the reverse tractor parade was an amazing success; with so many tractors and so many young families flocking to see, stand near, and sit on the town’s farming family tractors.

This was the second year I participated with one of my tractors, and had so much fun being “in the lead.” Wouldn’t it be exciting when the parade returns (with enough volunteers to organize it) to have Rob on the grand stand (possibly arriving via a tractor...) and all the tractors going first to welcome back the full size event!
