Ernest John Oswald, 65, died in San Francisco, Calif., August 20, after a series of illnesses. He was the son of Theresa and Ernest Oswald of Southbury.

Mr Oswald is survived by two brothers, Fred Oswald and his wife, Linda, of Sandy Hook and John Oswald and his wife, Lois, of Lynn Haven, Fla.; his nephew Kenneth of Sandy Hook; nieces, Jennifer of Reston, Va., and Jessica of Alexandria, Va.; and several cousins in New York, Connecticut, California, Washington, D.C., and in Austria.

Mr Oswald graduated from Fordham University with a BA in 1973. Early in his career he worked for Faucett Publications in New York City as a publication editor. In San Francisco, Mr Oswald worked for a number of years as a legal assistant specializing in asbestos litigation.

He will be missed very much by his many friends in California and by his family. He was a loving person, whose love of poetry and San Francisco transcended all other things.

A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, September 20, at 10 am, in the Sacred Heart Church, Southbury.
