Alan Owen Bickel Osborne was born on a very hot day in July, the 16th, in 1982 to Inge Bickel Osborne and James Robert Osborne in New Haven, Connecticut. He died on December 15, 2020, in California.

Owen grew up learning to fish on the Mississippi River and the Gulf of Mexico. He had some great mentors who loved nature, and the natural world became his passion, as well. Owen attended Neighborhood Music School, St Thomas’s Day School, Foote School, Hamden High School, and the Sound School, where he graduated in 1990. He then attended Eckerd College in St Petersburg, Florida.

Owen worked as a fishing guide, a nature photographer, and he had his own drone business. Fishing and the art of photography were his passions and where his talent was most evident.

Owen is survived by his brother, Devin, his sister, Carly, his parents, and many cousins and relatives, as well as the people he touched along the way.

His grandparents, Ruth and John Bickel, of McGregor, Iowa, and Betty Lou and Jim Osborne of Sandy Hook, Connecticut, predeceased him.

There will be a Celebration and Remembrance of Owen’s Life on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 11 am at the Hamden Unitarian Society at 700 Hartford Turnpike in Hamden.

Donations in his memory can be made to the go fish fund at the Community Foundation of Greater New Haven.

Sisk Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, siskbrothers.com.
