SCAN To Welcome Jorgensen For
Watercolor Program
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have Bob Jorgensen of Ashland, Mass., painting a coastal watercolor costal scene at the next meeting of SCAN on Wednesday, September 27, at 1:30 pm.
The demonstration will take place at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole). The public is invited, and admission is free.
Bob Jorgensen began his career as a commercial artist. After 30 years in the field of advertising in New York City and Boston, plus 13 years as a high school commercial art teacher, Mr Jorgensen began doing what he had always yearned to do⦠his watercolors. His appreciation and love of the outdoors and nature have given him much of his inspiration, and are reflected in his coastal scenes and wildlife paintings.
A signature member of the New England, Rhode Island and the North East Watercolor Societies, Mr Jorgensen also serves on the board of directors of New England Watercolor Society, and is a past president of the Rhode Island Watercolor Society.
Elected memberships include North Shore Arts Association, Allied Artists of America, Academic Artists, American Artists Professional League, and Hudson Valley Art Association.
Mr Jorgensen has received numerous awards, and has gained both regional and national recognition in many shows; receiving the prestigious Silver Medal of Honor from the Allied Artists of America in New York City. He has also exhibited at the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio.
He is listed in Whoâs Who in American Art and is included in many private collections throughout the United States and Canada. Mr Jorgensen maintains a studio in Ashland, Mass., and continues to teach, demonstrate, and judge throughout New England.
