To the Editor:

I am writing this letter in support of the candidacy of Ned Simpson for re-election to the Board of Finance.

Newtown is fortunate to have a large number of volunteers serving on the various boards, commissions, and committees that allow our government to serve us effectively.

Ned has been a valuable member of the Board of Finance, applying his clear understanding of money matters, a keen eye for details, and a collaborative approach to solving problems to find the answer that best meets the needs of Newtown taxpayers.

A most recent example was Ned’s work to assure that plans for changes to the library parking and driveways effectively respond to the needs of anyone with limited mobility. When the library repaving proposal came before the BOF he saw the opportunity to correct a chronic problem.

He worked with Friends of Newtown Seniors (FONS), the Commission on Aging and others to add reconfiguring the handicap driveway to the project. His concerns not only reflect the fiscal responsibility we associate with good government, but also the productive use of limited resources to respond to needs of our town.

I hope you will join me in voting for Ned Simpson for the Newtown Board of Finance and allow him to continue to serve all the citizens of Newtown.

John S. Boccuzzi, Sr
