To the Editor:

There are wonderful events that we all enjoy as a community each year with our friends and families: the Labor Day Parade, Newtown Days, the Pootatuck Duck Race, and the Newtown Arts Festival. Organizing and putting on these events involve hundreds of hours of planning and many volunteers willing to donate their time and energy.

The Newtown Arts Festival could not happen without the generous time commitment over months from a small but significant group of people. This year’s festival owes its success to work done by the Festival Committee, the Cultural Arts Commission, and many volunteers who gave generously of their time and energy.

Laura Lerman is a fearless leader and Chair of the Cultural Arts Commission.

Nancy Cole was this year’s talented artist.

Jen and Mike Guman orchestrated the Music Tent.

Andrea and Warren Spencer organized the food trucks and Beer/Wine Garden.

Jen and Jim Cebry set up and took down the entire event at Fairfield Hills.

Deb Zukowski organized the Art of Science Tent.

Tracy Van Buskirk brings us the artful Make and Take Tent.

Andrea Stratford choreographed this year’s Dance Pavilion.

Jen Rogers facilitated the Fiber Arts Tent.

Connie Widman rounds up all of our volunteers for the event.

There are a host of others behind the scenes who volunteer their time to make the Arts Festival happen: Lynn Hungaski, Kenneth Lerman, Elaine Martin, Dina Sabia, Rob Kaiser, Paula Brinkman, Sue Kassirer, EverWonder Museum, Newtown Savings Bank and a host of others.

We owe you our gratitude.

Barbara Snyder, Chair

2021 Newtown Arts Festival
