South Main Street near Simm Lane has fully reopened following a two-vehicle crash earlier this morning that led to the arrest of one person.

Newtown Police report their officers were dispatched to that area at approximately 9:58 this morning for a reported two-vehicle crash.

Arriving officers found a sedan vs tractor trailer motor vehicle accident. The operator of the sedan fled on foot and was located by officers in a nearby neighborhood where he was taken into custody, according to the police department.

The operator of the sedan was transported to Danbury Hospital for injuries and currently remains in police custody.

The roadway remained closed for just over an hour until both disabled vehicles could be removed.

South Main Street has fully reopened, also according to the police department.
