In an era when politics too often seems focused on noise and division, I believe we should recognize public officials who remain accessible, listen to their constituents, and concentrate on producing meaningful results. State Representative Marty Foncello has demonstrated that approach while representing the 107th District, including the Stony Hill section of Bethel and the Hawleyville neighborhood of Newtown.

During his service in Hartford, Marty has supported investments that make a tangible difference in our communities. These include $300,000 for the expansion of Newtown’s EverWonder Children’s Museum, $100,000 to help launch the Newtown Rides transportation program, and funding for accessibility improvements at the Newtown Forest Association. Bethel and Newtown have also benefited from state support for local food-waste diversion and environmental initiatives.

Marty’s work extends beyond local grants. He co-sponsored legislation strengthening protections against the financial exploitation of seniors, supported the creation of Connecticut’s Fallen Officer Fund for families of police officers killed in the line of duty, and backed stronger penalties for repeat offenders who illegally pass stopped school buses.

His committee assignments in appropriations, education, and elections give our area an important voice on state spending, school funding, government accountability, and election administration. Just as importantly, Marty makes himself available through community forums, office hours, local events, and direct conversations with residents.

Marty brings decades of military, homeland-security, municipal, and community-service experience to the position. He understands that public service is ultimately about showing up, listening, and doing the work.

For these reasons, I am pleased to support Marty Foncello for re-election as State Representative for the 107th District. Bethel, Newtown, and Brookfield benefit from having his experienced, thoughtful, and responsive voice in Hartford.
