Newtown High School's girls' volleyball team got into the win column with its first two victories of the campaign, back to back. Coming off a 3-1 setback to visiting East Lyme on September 17, the Nighthawks defeated host Woodstock Academy 3-1 the next day, then returned home and beat Weston 3-0 on September 22.

In the Woodstock Academy match, set scores were 26-28, 25-15, 25-19, and 25-21. Rylan Kennedy racked up a dozen kills and had an ace. Mia Sullivan had nine kills and Darla Paul and Emma Kozek both logged seven kills. Leah Botta compiled 15 digs. Taylor Leighton had four aces to go along with 27 assists. Paul added a trio of blocks.

Against Weston, scores were 25-14, 25-23, and 25-16. Jordan Kemp led Newtown with ten kills, Sullivan had eight kills, Diana Chomiak had six kills, and Paul and Kozek added five apiece. Leighton had 23 assists and four aces. NHS had 14 aces as a team with Kemp logging five. Botta had eight of Newtown's 16 digs. Paul contributed a pair of blocks.
