I am proud to endorse Michelle Embree Ku for State Representative.

Michelle has spent more than 16 years serving Newtown, building a record that reflects both deep community commitment and effective leadership. Her experience includes eight years on the Board of Education — four as chair — as well as service on the Board of Selectmen, Legislative Council, Charter Revision Commission, and numerous local and statewide committees.

What distinguishes Michelle is not simply the number of positions she has held, but how she approaches the work. She listens carefully, studies the facts, asks difficult questions, and remains focused on practical solutions. With a PhD in biology and professional experience in science, research, and education, she understands the importance of evidence-informed decision-making. Just as importantly, she understands Newtown because she has raised her family here and worked alongside its residents for years.

Michelle recognizes the issues affecting our community: maintaining strong schools, managing property taxes, expanding access to affordable healthcare, protecting local decision-making, and addressing development in a way that respects Newtown’s infrastructure and character. She is prepared to do more than identify problems — she will build coalitions and work toward achievable solutions.

At a time when politics too often rewards division, Newtown needs a representative who will bring integrity, preparation, courage, and common sense to Hartford. Michelle has demonstrated those qualities throughout her service to our town.
