A headline on page A1 of last week’s Newtown Bee incorrectly stated that several Charter proposals were headed to public hearings. The proposals slated to be scheduled for public hearings were forwarded by the Ordinance Subcommittee of the Legislative Council.

Also, a report on a recent Charter Revision Commission meeting included a statement from Finance Board Chairman John Kortze that was quoted out of context. In referring to debt service cost related to the town’s municipal bond rating, Mr Kortze stated, “A half-a-point on a $47 million bond initiative adds up to a $450,000 savings in debt, annually for the next 20 years, on that single project.” The $450,000 actually represents the annual debt service on more than $101.8 million in capital projects being requested in the school district’s current Capital Improvement Plan. The $47 million request for a high school expansion is one of those capital projects.
