New Milford Hospital Slates October Events­

October 4: Diabetes Support Group 10–11 am. A support group for all people with diabetes and their families. Meets in second floor Conference Room. For information call Diabetes Education Department, 860-350-7264.

October 5: Breast Cancer Awareness Wreath-Hanging Ceremony 10 am. Tie a bow on the wreath in memory of a loved one or in support of breast cancer awareness efforts. Presentation by breast care specialist Beth Overmoyer, MD. For information call 860-350-7216.

October 5, 12, 19, 26: CARES Cancer Support Group 11 am–noon. Cancer Rehabilitation Education Support (CARES) for cancer patients and their families. Meets every Thursday in Robison Room A. For information call 860-210-7442.

October 5, 12 19, 26: Prenatal Yoga 6–7:15 pm. Certified yoga instructor Jennifer Pote holds 75-minute classes to nurture energy and restore balance, release the lower back and align the body. Classes meet weekly on Thursdays in Robison Room B. Preregistration required; fee; for information call the Family Birthing Center, 860-350-7248.

October 6: Healing Drum Circle 10–11:00 am. As featured in The Newtown Bee, this drumming circle will focus on healing through sound and rhythm. No experience necessary, drums and other percussion instruments will be provided. Special pink-ribbon drum ceremony today for breast cancer awareness. For cancer patients and their families. Led by Dave Wonsey at the Interfaith Chapel. For information call 860-210-7442.

October 10, 31: Reiki 1:30–2:30 pm. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the principle that life force energy flows through us. Reiki practitioner is Mary Ellen Foster, RN. For cancer patients and their families. October 10: 2nd Floor Conference Room; October 31: Robison Room A.
