Pegasus Therapeutic Riding, Inc. provides the therapeutic benefits of horseback riding and other equine assisted activities to children and adults in the states of Connecticut and New York. These are children and adults who suffer from a wide range of physical disabilities including cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, Down Syndrome, traumatic brain injury and visual impairment. Therapeutic riding also benefits individuals with learning disabilities, language deficiencies and cognitive or sensory impairments such as autism, ADD and ADHD.
Pegasus currently runs programs at seven chapters in Fairfield county in Connecticut and Westchester and Putnam counties in New York. There are two chapters in New York (Chase Meadows Farm, North Salem; Fox Hill Farm, Pleasantville) and five in Connecticut (Kelsey Farm, Greenwich; Ox Ridge Hunt Club, Darien; New Canaan Mounted Troup, New Canaan; Corgi Hollow Farm, Newtown; Lion Hill Farm, Easton).
The EQUUS Foundation, Inc., an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit fund raising organization, was founded in August 2002 to promote the positive use of the horse for the benefit of the general public and the equestrian sport as a whole. In just three years, EQUUS has awarded over $600,000 in grants, benefiting thousands of horses and people, thanks to the generosity of its many individual and corporate donors.
