Save Those Cleats For ‘Lace ‘em Again’

Don’t toss out those soccer cleats the kids have outgrown. That’s because Newtown High School junior Will Mahoney will be on hand at the Al Taubert Memorial soccer game on Saturday, October 7, at 7 pm, to collect gently used cleats as a continuation of his community service project, “Lace ‘em Again,” that he started last spring. Will cleans, labels, and sizes the donated cleats and brings them to the Bridgeport Youth Soccer Association, where they are provided to children in need of soccer cleats at no cost. Will collected several dozen pairs of cleats in June at the Alumni Lacrosse Game, all of which were  “Laced Again” by BYSA children. All sizes of soccer cleats are collected, but children’s sizes 13 to 2 are most needed, said Will.
