‘The Guys,’ A Dramatic Event

To Be Performed At Theater Barn

RIDGEFIELD — Ridgefield Theater Barn will offer a special presentation of The Guys, written by Anne Nelson and starring Melissa Wolf and former Ridgfield Fire Chief Richard Nagle, the weekend of October 13-15.

The guys in this case are firefighters, and Ms Nelson’s play is an  homage to all of those who died in the Twin Towers on 9/11. The audience listens in on a conversation between two very different people, each trying to sort out their feelings about a disaster too big for their minds to hold.

Nick, a fire captain who lost eight men in the collapse of the World Trade Center, enlists help from an editor, Joan, to prepare their eulogies. Nick entrusts Joan with his own raw feelings about that day, and she helps him put together the difficult, heartfelt speeches that he must deliver with honor and poise. As they make their way through the emotional landscape of grief, they draw on humor, tango, and the enduring bonds of humanity. In the process, each navigates to the beginning of healing — as do those who witness their encounter. The Guys — based on a true story — promises to be an unforgettable night in the theater.

Performances will be Friday and Saturday at 8 pm, and Sunday afternoon at 2. All seats are $30, $25 of which is tax-deductible; proceeds will benefit the theater barn’s building fund.
