Re-Elect Congresswoman Jahana Hayes
To the Editor:
Climate change and the environment should be at the top of everybody’s priorities since it involves our very survival, if not today then in our children’s and grandchildren’s not-so-distant futures. We are lucky to live in the northwest corner of Connecticut with abundant green space but we are victims of air pollution from power plants in the Midwest as the winds blow polluted air across our state.
That is why I support Congresswoman Jahana Hayes, who has worked so hard to protect her district. She has voted to protect public land on 41 miles of the Housatonic River, and got it designated a wild and scenic river. She also got the designation for the lower Farmington River and Salmon Brook here in the northwest corner.
Jahana Hayes is a co-sponsor of the Green New Deal. She has fought to increase investment in the small farms in our area. She voted for the Inflation Reduction Act, which hopes to reduce carbon by 40%.
If we re-elect Congresswoman Hayes, she will continue to fight for cleaner air and cleaner rivers in Connecticut. We are lucky to have her.
