To The Editor:

I’ve been talking to Newtown voters for the past several months and the same issues keep coming up again and again:

Traffic: on rte 25, especially when there’s any issue on Rte 84; on Sugar Street from 4:00 (sometimes from 3:30!) to around 6:00; on Rte 34 by the high school and Toddy Hill Rd. Those are only a few of the areas and streets that have become a mess because of heavy traffic.

Taxes: going up and up and up. What have our representatives in Hartford done to lower them? Nothing. And what do we get for our money? Less and less and less.

Housing: those of us who have lived here for decades are the lucky ones. Who else can afford to buy here in the town they’ve chosen or grown up in? I know of no young person fortunate enough to be able to afford the price of a house here. There are no starter houses being built, only McMansions that are way out of their price range.

And our seniors are being driven out because of higher and higher property taxes. I couldn’t afford to buy a house here if I didn’t already own one.

And what has Mitch done to remedy these issues?

He’s had 14 years representing us in Hartford — 14 years to make it better. To make a difference. The truth is that these issues are just getting worse.

Why should we trust that things will be better if we re-elect him again?

Someone (it actually wasn’t Einstein) said that doing the same thing over again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.

Therefore, by definition, we would be insane to re-elect Mitch Bolinsky.

Please vote for sanity on November 3, (or vote early beginning October 19). Vote for Michelle Embree Ku for your State Representative.
