Trees As Art And Poetry At Flanders

WOODBURY — Tom Zetterstrom will present the next Art at The Nature Center program at Flanders Nature Center on Friday, November 17, beginning at 7:30 pm.

Mr Zetterstrom’s program, “Portraits of American Trees,” will cover the artist’s own approach to his work. The Canaan artist describes his fusion of art and activism as “the evolution of the photographic portfolio and the artist’s involvement in the planting and protecting of trees.”

Mr Zetterstrom has had thirty solo exhibitions of his photographs. His work is included in the permanent collections of 36 museums including The Library of Congress, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, J. Paul Getty Museum and Corcoran Gallery of Art. His photographs of trees have been described as “pure poetry.” Since 1970, Mr Zetterstrom has led numerous environmental projects and most recently founded Elm Watch/Adopt-An-Elm.

Admission to Art at The Nature Center is $5 per person. Reservations are requested and can be made by calling Flanders Nature Center at 203/263-3711. The program will be in the Van Vleck Studio, on Flanders Road at the corner of Church Hill Road.
