NUMC Planning For Its Annual Autumn Fair

Newtown United Methodist Church will sponsor its Annual Fall Arts & Crafts Fair on Saturday, October 17.

The fair will be at Reed Intermediate School, 3 Trades Lane, so it will be presented from 10 am until 4 pm without worry about rain or shine.

The annual event by members of the church will offer juried arts and crafts, a silent auction, baked goods, theme baskets, and more.

Making her fourth appearance at the fair will be the artist and jeweler Sherry Hessels. As a child, Sherry spent hours watching her father paint New England scenery, and that introduced her to the world of art.

Unusual beadwork is her specialty, using the many techniques she has mastered. She uses glass (much of which is handcrafted), Swarovski crystal, semiprecious stones, and fresh water pearls. Pictured is one of Ms Hessels’s unique bracelets. Its 144 components comprise keishi pearls, tiny glass seed beads, all wrapped in sterling silver mounted on a sterling silver base.
