Orchard Hill Cleanup

To the Editor:

I want to take a moment to thank the Boy Scouts of Troops 270 and 370 for the hours these kids labored during our Orchard Hill Nature Center Cleanup on Saturday, September 26. They helped painting new trail signs, picking up trash, clearing the trails of fallen limbs, and shoveling the endless amounts of gravel to make the parking area better. Thanks also go to Peter Lubinsky, scoutmaster of Troop 270, who organized their participation and was a real workhorse himself. Thanks also to the various fathers who pitched in, as well as the 12 Lions who helped. By the end of the day a lot had been accomplished and Orchard Hill was looking sprightly.

I also appreciate Tony Posco of Andrea’s Bakery, who provided us with doughnuts, hot chocolate, and coffee and Carl Samuelson, parks grounds supervisor, who provided the gravel. The only bad things about the day was that we saw that the Frisby Golf signs were destroyed. Carl told me that this is the third time this has happened. Senseless vandals have ruined this fun opportunity Orchard Hill Nature Center had provided. This was a downer, but everything else about the day was great.

Thanks again,

Gordon Williams
