Sarah Gutbrod of Sandy Hook was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2009 semester at Johns Hopkins University, in Baltimore, Md. To be selected for Dean’s List, a student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale with a minimum of 14 credit hours. Sarah is the daughter of Robert Gutbrod and Virginia Zimmermann and attended Newtown High School. She is majoring in biomedical engineering, and is expected to graduate in May 2010.

Jared Kloth, son of Joanne George of Newtown and David Kloth, was one of five students from The Gunnery, a college preparatory school in Washington, recently recognized for qualifying for the Advance Placement Scholar with Honor Award by the college board for his achievement in the Advanced Placement Program Exams in May. Jared is now attending Colby College, in Waterville, Maine. Shelby Sisco, daughter of Dennis Sisco and Alexine Lesko, was one of eight students from The Gunnery who were recently recognized for qualifying for the Advanced Placement Scholar Award by the college board. Shelby is now attending Tulane University, in New Orleans, La.
