Special Thanks To Special Folks

To the Editor:

On September 26 we once again had a wonderful Health Fair at the middle school. It was our 16th annual! The weather was absolutely beautiful and we came close to a record number of exhibitors and visitors. The day was exceptional and it was due to the work of many, many hands.

I want to thank all of the exhibitors and participants at the fair; they are truly a joy to work with. I also want to give a special thanks to our sponsors, Aqua Environmental Lab, Big Y, Dr Joshua Baum, Crystal Rock, Dr Bryson Filbert, Jr, the Chamber of Commerce, Dental Associates, Kevin Koschel, Masonicare at Newtown, MetLife, The Newtown Bee, Newtown Parks & Recreation, Newtown Prevention Council, Newtown Public Schools, and the Bicycle Goodie Shop.

And a heartfelt thanks to the wonderful food service folks that faithfully support us — Carminuccio’s, Franco’s, Katherine’s Kitchen, My Place Restaurant, Newtown Deli and Catering, Newtown Pizza Palace, Stop & Shop, and The Villa. It is all of their support that makes such an event possible.

Thank you to all the firefighters, ambulance, EMT personnel and police; this town is so fortunate to have such dedicated and talented people. With all the other challenges we face, we are blessed to have such terrific community events that bring us together, and let us have some good clean fun.

The utmost thanks go to Don Roos and his crew at the middle school. Their dedication and hard work is extraordinary.

And to all the residents, the fair’s attendees, thank you for coming, it is for you that we work to share all of the free health screenings and health and safety info to keep Newtown the great town that it is.

We also want to add a very heartfelt thank you to our Board of Health and our Health District staff (Maureen, Mike, Ed, Suzette, and Keith) —all of their support, hard work, and senses of humor are invaluable and make the difference everyday, and especially fair day!
