The Knights Say Thanks

To the Editor:

On behalf of the Knights of Columbus, Virgilius Council #185, we would like to thank the 20-plus volunteers who joined us on Saturday’s projects. God held the rain and in just over three hours, we were able to paint three separate houses (red, white, and sail cloth).

Special thanks to Father Bob Weiss for his assistance in soliciting volunteers, St Rose Catholic Church, Sherwin-Williams of Brookfield for help with the paint and First Selectman Herb Rosenthal for his encouraging words of support.

Although the media constantly exposes the plight of the poor in areas such as Calcutta, Sudan, and Kosovo, there are many in need of assistance right here in our own community of Newtown. Who are these people? They are elderly men and women, single mothers, people struck down by illness or victims of an unfortunate accident. We urge everyone to join us in our endeavor to help all of these people who are ...at our Gate.
