Honda Off Road

Motorist James Hilton, 18, of 2 Sealand Drive was driving a 1996 Honda Accord sedan southward on Walnut Tree Hill Road about 7:34 am September 27 in rainy conditions, when while attempting to negotiate a curve on the wet road, he lost control of the auto, skidded across the northbound lane, skidded across a lawn, struck a fence, and came to rest in the yard at 8 Walnut Tree Hill Road, police said.

Hilton was not injured. Police issued him an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn.

Guardrails

Motorist Amanda Wenger, 19, of Easton was driving a 1992 BMW 325 coupe eastward on Wasserman Way about 11:52 am September 27, when while negotiating a curve on a downhill grade, went into a skid on the wet road, crossed the westbound lane, and struck some guardrailing, police said.

There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Wenger for traveling too fast for conditions.

Busy Intersection

Two vehicles collided at the intersection of South Main Street and Mile Hill Road about 5:19 pm September 26, police said.

Motorist Francisco Neto, 44, of Danbury, who was driving a 2008 GMC Sierra pickup truck northward on South Main Street, was traveling in the straight-ahead lane, as motorist Karen Fenton, 24, of Naugatuck, who was driving a 2003 Mazda Protégé northward on South Main Street, was traveling in the lane designated for making right turns onto Mile Hill Road, police said.

The GMC then turned to the right to enter Mile Hill Road, but collided with the Mazda, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Neto infractions for making an improper turn and for failure to have a driver’s license.

Huntingtown Road

Police were operating a stationary radar patrol on Huntingtown Road about 6:39 am September 25, when they stopped motorist Keith McHugh, 50, of 84 Eden Hill Road to investigate.

Police charged McHugh with traveling too fast, driving with a suspended license, failure to return a suspended license to the state Department of Motor Vehicles, and failure to carry an automotive insurance identification card.

 Police released McHugh on a written promise to appear in court on October 9.

Chevrolet Vs Mercury

Police report that motorist Karen J. Palladino, 56, of Oakville, who was driving a 2007 Mercury Milan sedan, was exiting eastbound Interstate 84 at the Exit 10 off-ramp and then stopped for a traffic signal at the end of the ramp at about 8:44 am September 29.

Motorist Benjamin S. Smith, 23, of 33 Currituck Road, who was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu sedan behind the Mercury, was unable to stop and then struck the rear end of the Mercury, police said. 

There were no injuries. Both vehicles received minor damage, police said. Police said they issued Smith a written warning for following too closely.

MV Violations

Police said they stopped motorist Jillian Ruggiero, 27, of 64 Riverside Road for a speed violation on Currituck Road at about 11:40 am September 29.

After investigating, police charged Ruggiero with traveling unreasonably fast and with driving with a suspended license.

Police released Ruggiero on $100 bail for an October 16 court appearance.
