Marguerite Budd Hyde

Historic Newtown Family Member

Maguerite “Peggy” Budd Hyde, 82, died September 12 at Ormond Memorial Hospital in Florida. She was born September 22, 1925, in New York City.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister who lived a life dedicated to her family, friends, and those less fortunate than herself. Mrs Hyde was always a lady, classy, dignified, and elegant. Many of her happiest memories from her childhood were at her family home in Newtown.

Her greatest joys were her husband, US Navy Retired Captain Richard Webster Hyde, and their five children. She was an accomplished horsewoman, loved dogs, crossword puzzles, books, and the game of golf. She was an active volunteer and a generous philanthropist to many charities.

She leaves behind her husband of 65 years; her children and their spouses, Richard Webster Hyde, Jr, and Laurie, of California, Mary and Gregory William Wylde, of Vermont, Doug and Susan Hyde of Florida, Matthew Glover Hyde of Texas, and Mark Edward and Ellen Hyde of New Hampshire; sister-in-law, Kate Budd; and 14 grandchildren. A sister, Mary Beecher Thomson, and her twin brother, Stephen E. Budd, predeceased her.

A celebration of Mrs Hyde’s life will be held Saturday, October 18, at 11 am, at St James Episcopal Church, 44 South Halifax Drive, Ormond Beach, Fla. The family will receive visitors at 10 am. Father Stephen Morris will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Easter Seals Foundation, 1219 Dunn Avenue, Daytona Beach FL 32114.
