Obama Is A Socialist

To the Editor:

In response to Mr Sandler [Letter Hive, “More Questions, A Different View,” 9/26/08]:

My goal was to illustrate that the journalists have failed all of us, not to get into a spitting match with you. However, your words “outright false” imply that I am a liar and so I have to respond.

You challenge my claim that Obama is number 2 on the Fannie Mae donor recipient list and mention another FM donor list. I can find no reference for your claim. My list references the fact that Obama received $126,349 in FM donations, second only to Chris Dodd with $165,400, and I can find it at many sources (including: www.audacityofhypocrisy.com).

You also mention Rick Davis, but ignore Obama’s relationships with former Fannie Mae chief executive Franklin Raines and with Jim Johnson, a $7 million recipient of loans from Countrywide Financial, as well as Obama’s financial relationship with Angelo Mozilo, the former chairman and CEO of Countrywide Financial. The Washington Post reported on Obama’s sweetheart deal for his Chicago mansion (Joe Stephens, “Obama Got Discount On Home Loan,” The Washington Post, 7/2/08).

You condemn deregulation, but over regulating has harmed our economy. Why would the mortgage industry approve NINJA (No Income – No Job) loans? This was the government creating a homeowner class. No mortgage lender would approve a mortgage for someone with no income and no job unless the government either forced him or made it financially worthwhile.

I am disturbed that you seem so enamored with Obama’s Ivy League education and feel Sarah Palin’s lack thereof makes her unqualified. Sarah Palin and millions of others have been well prepared for life at “non-venerable” colleges. (Interestingly, liberals rabidly believe in the exclusivity of public education and oppose school choice!)

McCain is upfront about his youth. I’d like Obama to be as candid with regard to his Columbia years. Obama has a relationship with Bill Ayres, from the radical Weather underground responsible for bombings between 1970 and 1974. (Ayers is still non-repentant). Were they acquainted when they both lived in NYC? We know they worked together as Chicago community leaders, securing mortgages for unqualified people.

You seem satisfied just because Obama graduated from Harvard with honors and as President of the Law Review. All I need to know about McCain is that Arizona finishes last in the Pork Per Capita listing (See www.cagw.org Citizens Against Government Waste). McCain believes the government shouldn’t waste our money. (Full Disclosure: Alaska is #1 on this list! I mention this to illustrate my sincerity in looking for answers. Before you beat me over the head with this, remember: congressmen secure pork, not governors. Also, Alaska has been #1 on this list for the entire decade.)

Obama is a socialist interested in raising taxes and redistributing wealth. McCain believes in a smaller government that must be accountable to the taxpayer.

The government needs to stop practicing income redistribution and leave people and businesses alone. The US Constitution promotes the general welfare. It doesn’t guarantee it!
