LeReine’s Cuisine, a restaurant at 31 Pecks Lane, is hosting a free community event, “Meet AARP CT,” on Sunday, October 12, from 1 to 3 pm. This will be is an opportunity for area residents to learn more about AARP and what the organization does at the state and local levels.

AARP Advocacy works with legislators to share concerns on issues for seniors and their families, in order to implement better legislation and policies statewide.

Issues the organization keeps tabs on involve utilities, landline phones, and healthcare. AARP CT programs include Driver Safety, Tax Aide, hosting Decide Create Share workshops, and Fraud Watch.

Kathy Null will present and will bring another AARP volunteer to help answer questions. Materials will include information about resources available to senior citizens, AARP program materials that describe programs details, and other AARP-produced informational literature.

This is a non-profit, non-political event.

LeReine’s Cuisine is requesting reservations for the event in order to plan for the refreshments. Walk-ins will be welcome as long as space permits.
