Eleanor "Ellie" Keane Dickerson of Newtown died at her home on September 30. She was born in Bridgeport on December 29, 1934, to Eugenia "Ina" and Joseph F. Keane.

Mrs Dickerson was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She is predeceased by her husband, Duane "Skip" Dickerson, to whom she was married for almost 58 years. Their three children and their spouses, David Dickerson and Anita Holtz of Newtown, Wendy and Arthur Fuller of Newtown, and Pamela and Paul Gunneson of Cheshire, survive her. Seven grandchildren, Kaitlin Krulewich of Fairfield; Courtney, Mackenzie, and Casey Fuller of Newtown; Kelly, Brittney, and Connor Gunneson of Cheshire; three great-grandchildren; sister in-law Jessie Ceccarelli and her husband, Alfred, of Newtown; sister in-law Mae Dickerson of Newtown; and her brother in-law Robert Dickerson and wife Yolanda of Florida; several nieces and nephews; and a cousin survive her. Her brother Joseph; sister in-law Elizabeth Keane; and brother-in-law Chileon "Chic" Dickerson of Newtown predeceased her.

She graduated from Bassick High School of Bridgeport in 1953. She was employed at Fairfield Lumber Supply until a few years after marrying Skip in 1955 and beginning a family in 1959. She has been a resident of Newtown since 1956.

Some of her favorite activities were gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs Dickerson was a babysitter, teacher, and best friend to all of her grandchildren. She also loved to drop a card or note in the mail to family and friends. She was very grateful for all the kindness that had been given to her throughout her lifetime and spoke very fondly of those who extended their love and compassion to her. Mrs Dickerson's most precious gift to all was her unconditional love for her family, who say she will be greatly missed.

Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, on Tuesday, October 4, from 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown, on Wednesday 5, at 10 am. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown.
