Hawks Race And Dive Past New Milford Green Wave

Newtown High School's girls' swimming and diving team hosted the New Milford Green Wave and earned a 97-84 win on September 27. The Nighthawks sealed the team win after the 100 yard backstroke race and exhibitioned the final two events.

The 200 medley relay team of Ella Seaver, Grace Fischer, Alexa Kwarcinski, and Diellza Limani won in a time of 2:00.70.

Zoe Petertonjes was first in the 200 freestyle race in 2:03.44. Seaver won the 50 free in 28.07.

Ella Hall won the diving competition with a score of 196.75.

Petertonjes won the 100 butterfly in 1:02.26. Kwarcinski was first in the 100 free in 56.66. Anna Shew took first in the 500, making her final touch in 6:01.20.

The 200 free relay of Fischer, Limani, Lauren Smiley, and Petertonjes was first, clocking in at 1:50.83.

NHS did not win the 100 backstroke event but a second-place finish by Kwarcinski in 1:04.32 helped capture the team win. Fischer had the fastest time in the 100 breaststroke race, finishing in 1:14.23.

The best 400 relay time was turned in by Petertonjes, Smiley, Shew, and Kwarcinski, recording a 4:02.30.
