Hikes At Terre Haute: Enjoy Fall Foliage And The Great Outdoors
BETHEL â Hikers of all ages can see the fall foliage in all its glory and explore a little-known Bethel treasure during âHikes at Terre Haute.â Preservation Advocates of Terre Haute (PATH) and the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) of Fairfield County will co-host guided hikes in Terre Haute on Sunday, October 14.
Separate hikes will begin at 1:30 pm. There will be a leisurely walk in the woods suitable for kids, families, seniors, etc. A second, more challenging hike, will take a brisker pace and encompass steeper trails and some amazing views.
Terre Haute is the jewel of Bethelâs natural lands, a 600-plus acre property that features wetlands and vernal pools, lofty forests, ponds, cliffs, wildlife, and spectacular scenic overlooks. Experienced AMC-certified guides for âHikes at Terre Hauteâ will include John OâNeill (Bethel Land Trust), Rob Wallace (PATH) and Mike Cunningham (AMC).
Participants should meet in Francis J. Clarke Park on Route 53, at the end of Trowbridge Drive, off Francis Clarke Circle (business park).
The hikes are open and welcome to the public, and will take place rain or shine. Â Wear sturdy shoes and bring water, snacks, and appropriate clothing for the weather. Â
