‘Creativity & Compassion’ At WestConn

DANBURY — The Western Connecticut State University Department of Art will present a faculty exhibition, “Creativity & Compassion,” to celebrate the historic visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the WCSU campus in October.

The exhibition will open on Thursday, October 11, and will run through Thursday, November 29, in The Gallery at Higgins Hall, on White Street behind Fairfield Hall. The gallery is open Monday through Thursday from noon to 4 pm.

An opening reception will be from 5 to 7 pm on October 11. The reception and exhibition will be free and the public is invited.

The show will bring together the works of 24 full-time and adjunct art faculty members in a wide variety of media, including photography, printmaking, sculpture, drawing and painting. Several works will be offered for purchase.

Terry Wells, chairman of the WCSU department of art, said this exhibition “showcases the creativity that is the core of who we are and what we do, as both practitioners and educators.”

Faculty participants include Bob Alberetti, Vincent Baldassano, David Boyajian, Riley Brewster, Santo Bruno, Bruce Dunbar, Margaret Grimes, Chris Hartman, Jilaine Jones, Moira Kelly, Jurg Lanzrein, Joel Leneker, Ed Little, Sabrina Marques, Plonia Nixon, Fran Patnaude, Marjorie Portnow, Ken Scaglia, Michael Serao, Elyse Shapiro, David Skora, Jack Tom, Cathy Vanaria and Terry Wells.
