Interfering

Police report that they were dispatched to 27 Maltbie Road at about 6 pm on September 30 after receiving a report of a possible dispute there.

Police said that after arriving, they encountered William Gallo, 49, of that address, who threw an unspecified object at them.

Police said they charged Gallo with interfering with a peace officer. Gallo was released on $1,000 bail for an October 16 court appearance on the charge, police said.

Two Burglaries

Police said they are investigating two daytime residential burglaries that occurred on October 1, which may be related incidents.

One break-in occurred on Chimney Swift Drive, off Riverside Road, and the other break-in took place on Valley Field Road North, off Alberts Hill Road.

Both burglaries occurred when there were no residents at home, police said. In both cases, a rear window of the home was smashed in and entry was gained to the premises.

In both burglaries, jewelry was stolen, police said. Police learned of the crimes after the residents returned home and found evidence of the break-ins.

Police ask anyone with information on the incidents to contact them at the police station at 203-426-5841.

Vehicular Mishap

Police report that at about 12:27 pm on October 2, motorist Henry Dieck, 84, of 38 Echo Valley Road, who was driving a 2008 Honda Accord sedan, was exiting his driveway and then reached down to get a newspaper that had been left on his driveway while he was still within the Honda.

In doing so, Dieck inadvertently placed his foot on the accelerator pedal and he fell out of the auto, but was able to get back into the vehicle uninjured, police said.

Dieck, however, was unable to stop the Honda and it crossed Echo Valley Road, striking a rock alongside the street, police said. Police said they verbally warned him for unsafe movement.

Moving Violations

Police said that while on patrol in Sandy Hook Center about 9:47 pm on October 1, they stopped motorist Samantha Shepard, 23, of 39 Cricket Trail on Riverside Road, near its intersection with Glen Road, Church Hill Road, and Washington Avenue.

After investigating, police charged Shepard with failure to obey a traffic signal and with driving with a suspended license.

Police report they released her on a written promise to appear in court October 11.
