Letters Of Endorsement

To the Editor:

In a few weeks we will vote for the next President. This election is clearly one of the most important we will face for many years. Our nation has major issues on the agenda both at home and internationally.

Barrack Obama has dropped the ball on so many of these issues it would take up too much space to do a complete list. But let’s look at a few of the more significant problems we face.

Unemployment remains high and the administration has no coherent plan to bring it down to a reasonable level. Gasoline prices in Connecticut in 2008 were below $2.50 per gallon. Now we are approaching $5 per gallon. Home heating oil has seen a similar increase in the same period.

For the last three fiscal years Congress and the White House have not managed to put a budget in place on time. Under Obama the credit rating of our country has been downgraded. That is a first in the history of this nation.

More people are on welfare than ever before thanks to Obama killing off the Clinton welfare-to-work program. And the health care shoe is about to drop. The full impact of that piece of legislative slight of hand will fall on the person who occupies the White House in 2016 and beyond. Obama was sharp enough to make sure he dodged that bullet. But if you can read and do a little math it isn’t going to be pretty.

On the international front, it seems as if nobody likes us. Russia doesn’t even try to talk to us. The Arab nations are not happy and Israel has no clear idea of the relationship between our two countries. A few weeks ago Obama tells us that Egypt isn’t an ally. That is going to come as a surprise to the Egyptian exchange students in our various military schools.

Mitt Romney’s biggest problem is his inability to connect with the average person. It’s akin to picking a doctor. Do you want one with a great bedside manner or one who will cure you? I fully believe Romney has the skills to get the country back in the game. Those who would take issue with his record in business have lost sight of the fact that the free enterprise system is one of America’s greatest assets. But given enough time the Democrat Party will probably wreck that in their quest for unearned equality.

Want to turn this around, then vote for Romney.
