To the Editor:

I wish to publicly commend, albeit belatedly, and acknowledge the contributions and efforts of Mr Howard Lasher since 9/11 to keep alive the memories of the many innocent souls lost that day.

Besides the beautiful American flag painted on the trees on his property, he has conducted memorial ceremonies each year since, including a most moving one just a few weeks ago, also on his property [on Route 302].

Many service organizations, along with a large civilian turnout, participated in the ceremony that included moving and heart-wrenching renditions of that horrible day.

I met Mr Lasher at the conclusion of the ceremony to thank him and express my hope to him (and later to Mitch Bolinsky) that the town will somehow find a way to continue what Mr Lasher has so magnificently begun, as he announced this would be his final memorial service.

Thank you, Mr Lasher.

Sincerely,

Walter E. Stark
