Three nights after the nation's most recent mass casualty incident, during which nearly 60 people were killed and another 500-plus were injured at the hands of a single gunman, Newtown Action Alliance hosted a vigil outside the headquarters of National Shooting Sports Foundation.[naviga:img class="wp-image-283560" src="https://newtownbee.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/SH_NAA-rally-at-NSSF-misc-signs-02-WEB.jpg" alt="About 90 minutes into a rally organized by Newtown Action Alliance in response to the October 1 shootings in Las Vegas, approximately 50 people were still assembled into front of 11 Mile Hill Road. NAA is an advocacy group formed in the wake of 12/14. The mission of NSSF is "to promote, protect and preserve hunting and the shooting sports."

Holding signs that read Never Shall Sandy Hook Forget; We The People; Not One More; and multiple orange signs that said We Can End Gun Violence, many at the rally also held lit candles during the quiet event that was scheduled to run from 5 to 7 pm. About 90 minutes into the rally, approximately 50 people were still assembled into front of 11 Mile Hill Road.

On its website this week, NSSF said simply: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of all those killed and injured in the criminal attack in Las Vegas."

NAA Chair Po Murray said Wednesday evening that she and the others who assembled for the rally were there in part "to send love to Las Vegas."

A prayer vigil was also held Wednesday night, at Newtown Congregational Church.
