Judy Pierce Dunn, now of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and a former Newtown resident, recently sent a small collection of photographs and documents to The Newtown Bee. All of the items, she says, were discovered while cleaning.

“During this quarantine, being so bored, I took on the task of cleaning drawers and closets,” Dunn wrote recently to Bee Publisher R. Scudder Smith.

Dunn later explained that while in Newtown between 1990 and 2003, she lived on Dodgingtown Road and she believes some of the documents she found were related to a neighbor’s property.

Among the items she sent were a photograph of a woman labeled at the bottom, “Blackman, 242 Main St, Danbury, Conn.;” a photograph of a man, with a note questioning whether it is Barney Andrews of Danbury; a photograph of a man sitting on a porch, with a note asking if it is Barney’s grandfather; a photograph of a young girl labeled at the bottom, “S Borne, 197 Main St, Danbury, Conn.;” an administrator’s deed from a town clerk with a date of 1909; another paper labeled as a deed with the year noted as 1909; and a paper dated October 14, 1941, that reads in part, “I, May E. Sullivan, Registrar of Vital Statistics, hereby certify from the Records of this office that Byron, son of Ireneous W. Andrews and Cytheria Crayne, was born in the town of Newtown on the 20th day of March, 1912.”

A label at the bottom of this photograph reads, “Blackman, 242 Main St, Danbury, Conn.”
This photograph is labeled, “Barney Andrews, Danbury?” on the back.
