To the Editor:

Dear Citizens of Newtown — it’s not often one can sing the praises for not one but two outstanding candidates for public office in one letter, but as fate and privilege would have it, I can do just that by writing you all now.

It is with great honor and privilege that I endorse and ask you to vote for both Rob Hawley and his wife Tiffany Hawley for seats on the Board of Assessment Appeals and Zoning Board of Appeals, respectively.

I have known Rob for 50 years and consider him a dear friend. Like me, he’s a transplant to Newtown, but I can honestly say he feels as blessed to live here as I do, and because of that has fostered a deep desire to serve this town by giving back.

I have always admired Rob’s deep sense of commitment and purpose in everything he does. He is at heart a patriot, and the love he has for country runs equally deep for Newtown as well. I strongly feel this quality will serve Newtown well, as will his can-do spirit in bringing rational thought to the situations the office faces.

Tiffany is no exception. She has faithfully served as an alternate to ZBA for the last three years and now seeks a full seat. She is bright and innovative, and will bring optimism and clarity to the ZBA as a full member as Newtown faces some of its biggest challenges in our growth and development.

Together Rob and Tiffany will happily and faithfully serve our town, a place we all love and want the best for.

I humbly ask you to cast your vote for Rob and Tiffany Hawley this November 7.
