To the Editor:

I am writing in support of Matt Cole for state representative. I have worked directly with Matt over the past year and can attest to his commitment to the residents of Newtown and the Newtown community. He has strong leadership skills, understands how to work with others to get things done, and is a strong advocate for those in need of assistance. Matt is also a social worker who practices under the National Association of Social Workers, Code of Ethics that presents guidance on ethical decision making.

Matt worked as an intern for me and did a fabulous job. In fact he was awarded the NASW CT Chapter BSW Student of the Year Award for his work on social policy issues, legislative action and educational achievement. Every task he took on he did well and fully. Matt followed legislation and testified at the Capitol, giving him an understanding of the legislative process that will allow him to be an effective state representative from day one. This speaks to the type of person he is, and the high quality of work he will bring to representing all of the residents of Newtown.
