NSB Announces Executive Changes

Newtown Savings Bank has announced recent executive changes at the bank.

Duane Giannini has joined the bank as vice president/manager of human resources.

Mr Giannini’s functions will include recruiting, training, and personnel development as well as managing the benefit packages at the bank. He has more than 20 years of professional experience in managing human resource systems developed at local companies as well as national organizations including Cadbury-Schweppes and most recently with the Visiting Nurse Association in Bridgeport. In addition to managing all functions of the Human Resources Department he will be a member of the bank’s Management Committee.

“We are excited to have Duane join our organization. Duane’s professionalism, qualifications and experience will make him a great addition to our management team” says John Martocci, NSB chairman and CEO.

Mr Giannini and his wife, Debbie, have lived in Newtown for more than 18 years with their three daughters Amy, Alison, and Amanda. He is active with the Newtown Board of Police Commissioners and enjoys woodworking as a hobby. Mr Giannini holds a bachelor’s degree from Sacred Heart University and an MBA from the University of New Haven.

The bank also announced that Rebecca “Becky” Kayfus will be the bank’s new mortgage originator in the towns of Monroe, Oxford, Shelton, and Seymour. The former vice president/manager of human resources voluntarily made the career change after 12 years on the administrative side of banking, due to her love of customer interaction and the real estate lending side of the banking business, according to the bank. She will be based in the bank’s Shelton office located at 815 Bridgeport Avenue.

“Although we will miss her in her prior role, I am confident that Becky’s decision to capitalize on her great personality, and love of real estate lending, will result in her being as successful on the loan side as she was in human resources,” said Newtown Savings Bank President John Trentacosta.

Ms Kayfus, who has prior experience in the real estate market, lives in Oxford with her husband Matt, and their two children, Sanya and Matthew Jr. She has a bachelor’s degree from Western Connecticut State University, and is a member of the Greater Bridgeport Board of Realtors. She can be reached at 426-4440, extension 3861.

Newtown Savings Bank is a mutual community bank headquartered in Newtown with $700 million in assets. The bank has ten branches located in Bethel, Danbury, Monroe, Newtown, Shelton, Southbury, Trumbull, Woodbury, and has a branch currently under construction in Brookfield.
