Project Will Celebrate

Newtown’s Historic Families

Celebrating Newtown’s Historic Families, a tercentennial project to showcase families with early Newtown association and history, will take place on Sunday, December 4, at the Cyrenius Booth Library during the Newtown Annual Holiday Festival.

Family histories and memorabilia will be on display throughout the library from 11 am to 4 pm and will be open to everyone at no cost.

The project will highlight the people who have shaped and developed this community to be what it is today, including familiar family names such as Hawley, Glover, Hubbell, Botsford, Ferris, Hall, Smith, Beers, Morris, McCarthy and Booth.

The project committee cordially invites everyone with historic ties to Newtown or who has family residing in town for at least 75 years to consider sharing their family history and memorabilia with all of the town during this tercentennial. Call Sally O’Neill, 426-2607, or Marg Studley, 426-3651, for more information.
