South Main Crash

Motorist Serenade Chhe, 21, of Danbury, who was driving a 2004 Chevrolet van southward on South Main Street about 8:40 am September 29, stopped for traffic conditions near 87 South Main Street, police said.

Southbound motorist Michael Schultz, 42, of Danbury, who was driving a 2001 Kia Sephia sedan, then struck the Chevrolet from behind, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Schultz a written warning for following too closely.

Bad Check

After learning that police held a warrant for her arrest, Susan White, 52, of Bethel turned herself over to police at the police station on the evening of October 2 and was charged with issuing a bad check.

The arrest stems from an August 2004 incident, police said. Police released White on a promise to appear October 18 in Danbury Superior Court.

Volkswagen Vs Deer

Motorist Craig Makowski, 33, of Naugatuck, who was driving a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta eastward on Sugar Street about 7:20 pm September 30, encountered a deer that had entered the road, after which the auto and deer collided near 185 Sugar Street, police report. Makowski, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured.

Pickup Vs Pickup

Police report a two-vehicle accident involving two pickup trucks about 2 pm October 1 on Church Hill Road.

Motorist Gregory Hastin, 43, of 33 Mt Pleasant Road, who was driving a 1999 Ford Ranger westward on Church Hill Road, stopped in a line of traffic, after which the Ford was struck from behind by motorist James Leebaert, 17, of 30 Plumtrees Road, who was driving a 1995 Dodge Ram, police report.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Leebaert an infraction ticket for traveling at an unsafe distance. Police said they also issued Leebaert a violation because he was carrying a friend as a passenger after having had a driver’s license for only five months.

DUI Charge

Police report they stopped motorist Shari L. Burton, 38, of 107 Glen Road, Sandy Hook, near 28 Church Hill Road after they saw Burton violate a traffic control signal at the intersection of Church Hill Road and Queen Street about 9:48 pm September 30.

Police said that after performing field sobriety testing, they charged Burton with driving under the influence and failure to obey a traffic control signal. After posting $50 bail, police released Burton for an October 18 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Queen/Mile Hill

Police report a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Queen Street and Mile Hill Road on October 1.

Motorist Priscilla Jones, 42, of 5 Meadow Road, who was driving a 2000 Toyota Camry, collided with a 2005 BMW X-5 sport-utility vehicle driven by Sengmany Phommacmanis, 37, of Bridgeport, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Jones a written warning for failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign.

Appearance Charge

Police arrested Tisheon Hunt, 26, of Bridgeport on a warrant on October 1, charging Hunt with second-degree failure to appear in court, making an improper turn, and driving while under suspension.

The original charges stem from an August 2000 motor vehicle accident in which Hunt drove into a tree at the intersection of Toddy Hill Road and Button Shop Road, police said. Police released Hunt on bail for an upcoming court appearance.

Motorcycle DUI

Police said they saw motorcyclist Fredrick J. Aley, 61, of Redding weaving on the road and crossing the road’s center line while driving westward on Route 302 about 7:25 pm October 2, so they stopped him to investigate.

Police said they charged Aley with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right. After posting $50 bail, police released Aley for an October 18 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, James Murchison, 37, of Altmar, N.Y., turned himself over to police on October 4 and was charged with failure to appear in court, driving under the influence, and following too closely.

Police said the motor vehicle violations stem from a January 2003 incident.

Police held Murchsion on $1,500 bail for arraignment October 4 in Danbury Superior Court.

Six Charges

While on patrol about 11:55 pm October 5, police stopped motorist Adam L. Miller, 19, of 2 Eden Hill Road at the intersection of Wasserman Way and Trades Lane at Fairfield Hills for not having the rear marker plate on his vehicle illuminated.

Police said an investigation led to them press six charges against Miller. Police arrested Miller on charges of failure to illuminate a rear marker plate, driving while under suspension, driving without automotive insurance, failure to notify the state Department of Motor Vehicles of an address change, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

After processing, police released Miller on $200 bail for an October 20 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
