Cassavechia

Loving Mother And Grandmother

Carolyn Cassavechia, 85, of Newtown, formerly of Ridgefield, died September 28, at Bethel Health Care. She was born in Waterbury, January 30, 1926, daughter of Helen (Fortin) and Jude Cyr, and was raised in Stamford. Mrs Cassavechia was the wife of the late Jolindo Cassavechia.

Mrs Cassavechia attended Stamford schools. A resident of Ridgefield since 1952 coming from Stamford, she moved to Nunnawauk Meadows one year ago.

As a Ridgefield resident, she was a former baker and cook for the Marriott Corporation and the Ridgefield Public School system, enjoyed bowling, square dancing and country western music, and lived each day for her family. Those who knew her will sorely miss her.

Mrs Cassavechia was a member of St Mary Church, Ridgefield.

She is survived by three daughters, Joanne Lockwood, and her husband William, of Newtown, Lauretta Foristall of Sarasota, Fla., and Carol Cassavechia of New Milford; three brothers, Albert Cyr, and his wife Marte, of Redding, Lawrence Cyr, and his wife Tina, of Bethel, and Richard Cyr, and his wife Barbara, of Bethel; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs Cassavechia was predeceased by two brothers, Clarence and Louis.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated October 1. Burial was in St Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield.

Kane Funeral Home, Ridgefield, was in charge of arrangements.
