Letters Of Endorsement

To the Editor:

Jim Gaston is running for the Newtown Board of Selectman, and I thoroughly support his candidacy. I know he is the most qualified man for the job. Jim has served on the Board of Finance since 2001, and he has made a name for himself as someone who is fiscally disciplined. He has seen Newtown through both difficult and prosperous financial times, and he has helped the town survive and thrive through them.

Jim Gaston has garnered a reputation for education advocacy and fiscal discipline throughout the town, as it is an issue he cares deeply about and has consistently worked to better. He helped pass the Borough of Newtown Historic District by creating a district that historically had been apprehensive to some folks. He enacted a district that satisfied everyone and, in fact, was embraced and later overwhelmingly expanded by popular demand.

As a member of the Board of Selectmen, Jim will reform many aspects of Newtown, especially fashioning a fiscally sound town budget, and creating a Newtown Capital Improvement Plan. Jim Gaston has the perfect combination of experience and ideas needed to be the next member of the Board of Selectmen. Jim Gaston will move Newtown forward by fashioning fiscally sound and honest town budgets and work with all elected officials to promote a viable Capital Improvement Plan. So come out on election day and vote for Jim Gaston!
